UMMS Peter G Jones Elective Essay Prize

The Peter G Jones Elective Essay Prize is named in honour of Peter Jones, inaugural editor of Chiron. Each year three Peter G Jones Elective Essay Prizes are offered to final year medical students for essays describing their elective experiences. Selected essays are published in Chiron.

2008 essays

In 2008, prizes were awarded to Jonathon Epstein for ‘Kissing it Better", Jennifer Jamieson for ‘Welcome to South Africa, my friend…’, Daniel Mason for ‘African Life’ and Cameron McPherson for ‘Maybe Oscar Wilde was right…’.

2007 essays

In 2007, prizes were awarded to Sam Hardwick for ‘Just passing through never leaving’, Matthew Lin for ‘Trial by Fire’, Ingrid Laemmle-Ruff for ‘The tip of the iceberg’ and Arnab Ghosh for ‘Broadening your differentials’.

2006 essays

In 2006, prizes were awarded to Simon Liubinas for ‘Palliative care and the wheel of Samsara’, Maithri Goonetilleke for ‘Tales of an aspiring bridge builder’ and to Joshua Osowicki for ‘Hot town, summer in the city’.

2005 essays

In 2005, prizes were awarded to Nicholas Potter for ‘Hospital Rwanda’, Emma Boddy for ‘When you hear hooves’ and Molly Williams for ‘Mmmm…Checklisty’.
