UMMS AGM and annual lecture

Towards the end of each year UMMS hosts an annual function for members followed by a free public lecture. A brief annual general meeting is held during the function. Details of the 2008 function and lecture will be available in October.

2007 function and lecture

The 2007 function and lecture were held on Thursday 29 November 2007.

The lecture ‘New Approaches to Aboriginal Child Healthwas presented by
Professor Jonathan Carapetis, Director, Menzies School of Health Research, Northern Territory.

Professor Carapetis spoke about the Menzies’ research in Indigenous health and its recent decision to refocus its attention on the health of Indigenous children. Professor Carapetis spoke about the approaches being taken by the Menzies and its partners and the philosophies underpinning these new strategies. An edited version of Professor Carapetis’ lecture will be published in the 2008 issue of Chiron.
