Overall Objectives

This unit is intended to provide students with experience of the clinical or public health aspects of sexual health research. Students will be invited to engage in existing programs or develop their own unique ideas in this area. The possible projects in this area are broad. They may include clinical projects at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre among risk groups (sex workers, men who have sex with men, young people, clients with HIV) or public health projects of any aspect of STI control. This may involve outreach programs to sex workers, gay saunas, homeless youths, indigenous communities etc. For ideas of the sort of work that has been undertaken by AMS students before, or the types of research undertaken at the centre, please see our web site ( www.mshc.org.au ) and specifically the research section of it ( http://www.mshc.org.au/Default.aspx?alias=www.mshc.org.au/research ) where student profiles are displayed.
