Overall Objectives

This unit is designed to:

• provide an introduction to the process and practice of research in the area of molecular genetics
• encourage a broad understanding of the role of research in the development of clinical practice
• ensure a critical understanding of biomedical literature

Content

Coursework: N/A

Research: The major component of this course will be a laboratory-based research project performed under the supervision of members of the institute in a range of areas relating to the genetic basis of disease. Students will also be expected to attend departmental meeting and seminars.

The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute conducts research in areas that include understanding the genetic and molecular basis of disease and developing appropriate therapies. Here is a list of potential research projects.
