Assessment Procedures

The hurdle requirement of the AMS program is the submission of a research report at the end of the second semester (see Important Dates for the exact deadline for your cohort).

Research reports will be assessed and graded by two examiners. In the second semester, we will be asking project supervisors to nominate two suitable examiners for each student allocated to their AMS unit (this does not apply to international AMS units, who only nominate one examiner, the other being nominated by the AMS Office). One of the examiners must be external to the department / institute / body where the work was undertaken. Project supervisors will not be permitted to examine their student's report. We will provide supervisors with more information, including guidelines on the marking of research projects and the submission of final results, early in the second semester.

For questions relating to submission and the specific format of the report, please see Report Format and Submission
